Japanese stocks rose after the close on Tuesday (3/25), as gains in the Electric Power, Rubber and Chemicals, Oil & Plastics sectors helped stocks advance.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 was up 0.52%.
The best performers on the Nikkei 225 were Nexon Co Ltd (TYO:3659), which rose 9.02% or 185.00 points to trade at 2,236.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Mitsubishi Estate Co Ltd (TYO:8802) rose 4.81% or 119.00 points to close at 2,593.00 and DeNA Co Ltd (TYO:2432) gained 3.71% or 130.00 points to 3,635.00 at the close.
The worst performers on the session were Advantest Corp. (TYO:6857), which fell 3.41% or 273.00 points to close at 7,732.00. Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. (TYO:9531) dropped 2.51% or 125.00 points to close at 4,857.00 and Fujitsu Ltd. (TYO:6702) dropped 2.24% or 68.50 points to 2,990.50.
Advancing issues outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2,091 to 1,483 and 311 ended unchanged.
Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, rose 11.79% to 28.16, a fresh 3-month high.
Crude oil for May delivery fell 0.04% or 0.03 to settle at $69.08 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for June delivery fell 0.06% or 0.04 to settle at $72.33 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.21% or 6.46 to settle at $3,050.46 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY fell 0.07% to 150.55, while EUR/JPY fell 0.14% to settle at 162.51.
The U.S. Dollar Index Futures rose 0.09% to 104.03.(Newsmaker23)
