Japan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Power, Rubber and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.34%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Lasertec Corp (TYO:6920), which rose 9.98% or 1,380.00 points to trade at 15,210.00 at the close. Meanwhile, SMC Corp (TYO:6273) added 6.82% or 3,750.00 points to end at 58,750.00 and Oriental Land Co Ltd (TYO:4661) was up 5.54% or 172.00 points to 3,277.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (TYO:7011), which fell 5.79% or 144.00 points to trade at 2,345.00 at the close. IHI Corp. (TYO:7013) declined 5.17% or 560.00 points to end at 10,275.00 and Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (TYO:4519) was down 3.68% or 256.00 points to 6,707.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1824 to 1764 and 282 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 11.79% to 28.16 a new 3-months high.
Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.12% or 0.08 to $66.96 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.07% or 0.05 to hit $70.31 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.22% or 6.49 to trade at $2,920.59 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.18% to 147.76, while EUR/JPY fell 0.11% to 160.18.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 103.79.
