Japan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Gas & Water, Power and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 0.10%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nippon Express Holdings,Inc. (TYO:9147), which rose 8.29% or 207.50 points to trade at 2,712.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Dai-ichi Life Holdings Inc (TYO:8750) added 7.93% or 345.00 points to end at 4,698.00 and Credit Saison Co., Ltd. (TYO:8253) was up 6.84% or 242.00 points to 3,779.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dentsu Inc. (TYO:4324), which fell 13.03% or 458.00 points to trade at 3,056.00 at the close. Olympus Corp. (TYO:7733) declined 9.71% or 221.00 points to end at 2,054.00 and Amada Co., Ltd. (TYO:6113) was down 8.26% or 129.00 points to 1,433.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1997 to 1674 and 209 ended unchanged.
Shares in Dentsu Inc. (TYO:4324) fell to 3-years lows; down 13.03% or 458.00 to 3,056.00. Shares in Olympus Corp. (TYO:7733) fell to 52-week lows; falling 9.71% or 221.00 to 2,054.00. Shares in Credit Saison Co., Ltd. (TYO:8253) rose to 5-year highs; up 6.84% or 242.00 to 3,779.00.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 5.44% to 21.11.
Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.04% or 0.03 to $70.74 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.07% or 0.05 to hit $74.79 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.34% or 10.00 to trade at $2,910.70 a troy ounce.
