Japan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Textile, Transportation Equipment and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.79%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Toppan Printing Co., Ltd. (TYO:7911), which rose 15.52% or 632.00 points to trade at 4,703.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Sony Corp (TYO:6758) added 8.65% or 295.00 points to end at 3,705.00 and Trend Micro Inc. (TYO:4704) was up 6.77% or 735.00 points to 11,595.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Otsuka Holdings Ltd (TYO:4578), which fell 9.80% or 796.00 points to trade at 7,325.00 at the close. Ricoh Co., Ltd. (TYO:7752) declined 6.11% or 107.00 points to end at 1,643.00 and Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd. (TYO:6302) was down 5.84% or 183.00 points to 2,948.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2322 to 1325 and 224 ended unchanged.
Shares in Sony Corp (TYO:6758) rose to all time highs; gaining 8.65% or 295.00 to 3,705.00. Shares in Trend Micro Inc. (TYO:4704) rose to 5-year highs; rising 6.77% or 735.00 to 11,595.00. Shares in Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Ltd. (TYO:6302) fell to 52-week lows; losing 5.84% or 183.00 to 2,948.00.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.40% to 21.01.
Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.25% or 0.18 to $71.47 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.36% or 0.27 to hit $75.29 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.49% or 14.40 to trade at $2,959.80 a troy ounce.
