Tokyo stocks closed higher on Tuesday helped by a relatively cheaper yen and gains on Wall Street ahead of US inflation data later this week.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index edged up 0.38 percent, or 122.73 points, to 32,377.29, while the broader Topix index added 0.34 percent, or 7.80 points, to 2,291.73.
