Tokyo stocks opened lower on Monday, after global markets fell with investors watching additional rate-hike plans by central banks to combat inflation.
The benchmark Nikkei 225 index was down 0.86 percent, or 283.01 points, at 32,498.53 in early trade, while the broader Topix index fell 0.73 percent, or 16.44 points, to 2,248.29.
