Hong Kong and Shanghai stocks rallied Friday, brushing off a drop in New York, on growing hopes China will unveil fresh measures to boost the struggling economy.
The Hang Seng Index jumped 1.41 percent, or 277.45 points, to 19,916.56.
The Shanghai Composite Index jumped 1.84 percent, or 59.25 points, to 3,275.93, while the Shenzhen Composite Index on China's second exchange climbed 1.23 percent, or 24.89 points, to 2,052.62.
