Hong Kong stocks extended the week's gains at the open Wednesday after Chinese officials flagged fresh economic stmulus measures, while traders are also awaiting the release of US inflation data.
The Hang Seng Index added 0.74 percent, or 137.18 points, to 18,797.01.
The Shanghai Composite Index barely moved, dipping 0.99 points to 3,220.38, while the Shenzhen Composite Index on China's second exchange was also flat, inching down 0.62 points to 2,052.31.
